Goblin Valley!!! One of our all time favorite playgrounds. We make the trip down to Goblin Valley every spring just once it warms up enough to feel the sun on our faces and for the kids to kick off their shoes and explore.
Thousands of hoodoos and hoodoo rocks to climb on and slide down and hid in. What’s not to love!
This year we decided to try something new and rented one of the yurts they have in the state park.
It was $80 to rent this little beauty for the night. Seriously worth every penny. It comes with a bbq on the front porch along with a bunch of lounge chairs.
Along with a little gas fireplace, futon and a set of bunk beds. My husband and kids love to camp but I’m more of a glamping kind of girl so this was just right! Plus it’s just convenient to be able take off sandy shoes and have nice clean place to sit down.
If we’d have been smart we would have brought some steaks or burgers to grill on our little bbq but we weren’t so we had to venture into Hanksville to get dinner. If you’re ever in Hanksville though you just have to pull over and check out the “Hollow Mountain” gas station.
Built back when you didn’t need pecky things like building permits and inspections this little station is seriously blasted right out of the rock. When they needed to expand the just exploded some more. It was fun place to show the kids.
Another cool thing we learned about the Goblin Valley campground is this:
Don’t know what that is? It’s glow in the dark frisbee golf! An entire course, spread all throughout the hoodoos of the campground area. How fun is that!?
We really believe in getting our kids out there and giving them chances to explore the world, take risks and learn new skills. Goblin Valley is a really fun and interesting place to do that.
